Last week I've decided to upgrade my existing home media player with an Intel Next Unit of Computing (NUC) and setup it as HTPC.
The main reason is versatility and performance and user friendliness. I'm planning to install Windows to make it simpler for my family to use.
I bought the unit from local retailer and chose the D54250WYKH and this model come with i5 4th generation intel haswell processor and also included with SATA for expandability.
So head forward, and check my unboxing and assembling of Intel NUC.

Entire package. D54250WYKH, 80GB mSATA SSD, 8GB RAM |
With VESA mount to attach to back of your TV |
Now lets get to installation which pretty much very quick one.
Things you need. Screw driver, and also parts as mentioned earlier |
Once open 4 screws at the bottom, pull out the bottom cover |
Pull out the 2.5in drive tray and put it aside |
Now install the mSATA SSD in the slot located on the left |
Next is the RAM. This model supports up to 16GB RAM. |
Reposition the drive tray and close with bottom cover |
Screw the bottom cover and the installation completes.
Can proceed with software installation. |
Alrighty. That's it for this post. Going to setup my HTPC as per planned. :D
